A bib is a must if you don’t want to constantly be washing babygrows. As you know, babies and food are a very messy combination and it’s almost impossible for any clothes to survive mealtime without being coated in food residue, and the subsequent stains.

So if you don’t want to give the stain removal product manufacturers all your hard earned dollars, it makes sense to have plenty of bibs in your kitchen drawer.
There are a variety of bibs available, depending on the age of your infant. For young babies, bibs should be soft, with a comfortable method of fastening around the neck. They also need to be large enough to cope with the worst messes, and thick enough to prevent things seeping through to the clothing underneath. Pull-on bibs are a useful option, and some are designed with a waterproof backing, however, the latter should be washed at a lower temperature.
Feeding bibs tend to include a pocket enabling anything solid dropped, such as pieces of carrot, to be caught before they reach the floor. For older children, plastic feeder bibs are available, which are ideal to catch larger pieces of food. These are wipe clean and most can be popped in the dishwasher. However, you must ensure that any fastenings on these plastic bibs are comfortable against baby’s skin.
Mealtimes are never going to be the cleanest of occasions, but with a bib you can at least make sure part of your baby’s clothing remains food free.
